Term Research Paper
 

Team up with 4-5 other students from this class.  Your team is to select one of the following topics for your research. If you are interested in a topic that is not listed here, you must approach me and ask for my permission.

7. IT in the Agricultural Industry

8.  IT in the Entertainment Industry

9.  IT in Politics

10.  IT in the Military

11. Any other topic for which you received permission from me 

 

 

Group Presentation and Paper

1. The group assignment consists of a researched report and presentation. Groups will have five
members and students can form their own groups or be assigned to a group by the instructor.


2. Each group will meet and decide on a topic.  The instructor will take care of selection in class.


3. Requirements for the paper:

Approximately 10 pages (double-spaced, 1" margins).

Will have a title page, table of contents, and references. (These three pages are not
included in the 10 pages).

Goes beyond what is in the textbook ( do not use the textbook) and what was covered in class, and some research
has been done. Credit is given for all outside sources used.

If discussing laws and legal systems, use Canadian laws and examples if available.
Otherwise clearly state the country. Don't assume what you read will always apply in Canada.

References are used to add breadth & depth to paper. Authoritative & scholarly
 references are to be used for the most part, although some use of commercial websites
and news stories can enhance the paper. Do not use Wikipedia - and Do Not Use the Text Book

. Be sure to give credit to any sources you use in your paper.


4. Requirements for the presentation:

• DO NOT READ YOUR PAPER TO US

•  DO NOT READ PPT SLIDES TO US (if you use ppt)

All group members must participate in the presentation..

Make your presentation is interesting and appropriate for your audience. Avoid repeating
 what we covered in class. You are expected to go beyond the textbook and what was
covered in class.

Presentation should flow smoothly; with information presented in a logical, interesting
 sequence which the audience can follow.

All presentations should be integrated (not an unrelated series of individual
 presentations).

Presenters will demonstrate full knowledge of their topic by answering all class
 questions and thoroughly explain all points.

No spelling or grammar errors in any written material presented, e.g. PowerPoint
 presentations.


5. Grading of the Group Project:

The group project is weighted at 14%of the final grade in the course - presentation 7%
and paper 7%.

All group members will share the same grade unless free rider problem arises.
